Cheryl is very proud to be the Rotaract Governor of District 5280 the first year that New Generations (formerly Youth Service) is the official fifth Avenue of Service in Rotary International. She began in District 5280 as an Interactor at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach. There she attended RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) as a camper. Years later she joined the District again as a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Del Amo becoming the Director of Youth Service and was able to go to RYLA twice more as a counselor. Cheryl was the 2008/09 Del Amo Rotarian of the Year. In 2009 she discovered community based Rotaract clubs. At the same time she decided to complete her education. Joining the Rotaract Club of South Bay as the Membership and Social Chair was the best path for her. She also served as the Rotaract Liaison for the District Ecuador 2010 Humanitarian Trip. Cheryl has attended two Rotary International Conventions in Los Angeles and Montréal.

Jonathan has also been fortunate to take part in two international projects south of the border in Mexico, both to distribute goods to the needy during the winter holidays. He has been quite grateful for the chance Rotaract has given him to meet and get to know people from all over the world.
Jonathan has a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University with a primary concentration in Marketing and secondary studies in Recreation and Tourism. He currently works as the Office Manager at the Marina del Rey Garden Center in the lovely city of Marina del Rey. Last year Joshua was the Interact Governor, and this year he is the youngest board member, coming in as the International Chair. He is very excited to be working with Governor Cheryl and the rest of the board over the next year, as well as helping to plan the Rotaract service project in the Dominican Republic and various UCLA activities. Sergei Belokonnyi is a relatively new figure on Rotaract playing field. Born in South Eastern Ukraine he studied computer science and robotics, simultaneously working in the field of advertisement. Shortly after immigration to United States he undertook to bolster his education with a degree in Business Administration which led him to Santa Monica college where he joined his first Rotaract club – Rotaract of Santa Monica College. Shortly after his induction, he took on his first officer position as an Inter Club Council representative. From then on it seemed like his Rotaract career was on a fast track, thanks to inspiration and guidance of prominent Rotarians and Rotaractors alike.
In summer 2008 he was offered a position on a Host Organization Committee for LA 08 Rotary\Rotaract convention and charged with organization of Rotaract’s 40-th Luncheon ceremony. Success of this event along with other ones and vivid displays of professionalism and ingenuity shown by other Rotaract District board members, inspired him to take on a larger responsibility in the Rotaract world, and after nomination on the post of Rotaract Executive Aide, he readily agreed.
As of today, Sergei is a member of community-based Rotaract of West Los Angeles. He has a senior standing at California State University Northridge, majoring in Systems and Operations management and career hopes of a project manager in aerospace or consulting industries. He is the oldest sibling of three children in his family, providing support and motivation to his younger brother and sister with his own example. Sergei also enjoys a variety of athletic activities ranging from resistance training to tennis to beach volleyball. Brought up in good cultural tradition, he is an art aficionado and avid reader, spreading his free time between fiction and technical books. Sergei is fluent in Ukrainian, Russian, and English and is a beginner level speaker in Mandarin Chinese.
Talia has lived all over California, but calls Redondo Beach home. She graduated from Redondo Union High School in 2008 and is currently studying at El Camino College with hopes to transfer next year as a Psychology major. She isn’t set on her plans after college, but is contemplating becoming a developmental scientist/psychologist, child therapist, or elementary school teacher. When she’s not juggling school and Rotaract, Talia enjoys spending time with friends, reading, travelling, trying new things and watching old movies. Her motto is “Help those who cannot help themselves”. Before she was old enough to be involved in Rotary, she attended the 2003 International Convention in Brisbane, Australia. Immediately starting college, Talia sought to join Rotaract and was soon appointed as Inter-Club Counsel Representative. This marks the beginning of her second year in Rotaract. Talia was recently inducted as her club secretary and District Executive Aide for the 09-10 year. She looks forward to an incredible year full of great activities and wonderful people.
