LA Cedar Rotary Club ~ Tues. 4/14/2009
Rotaract District visits award winning LA Cedar Rotary Club in West Hollywood!
From collaborating with 11 out of 20 Rotary Clubs in Lebanon, funding for land mine detection dogs for the Lebanese Army, supplying new Red Cross Ambulances, Mammogram machines, Dog sanitation stations in West Hollywood neighborhoods & more, the welcoming LA Cedars Rotary Club leads the way to "Make Dreams Real!"
Feverent to start a community based Rotaract Club, our District visited to help jump start our 12th Rotaract Club!

UCLA Rotaract ~ Mon. 4/13/09
UCLA Rotaract MAD ( Meeting & Dinner)
Energetic & eager to serve the community, UCLA Rotaract answers the call for "Service Above Self!"
This Rotaract family has served their campus & community with endless service projects such as Chicken Soup for the needy, throwing a dance for the elderly in Westwood, & much much more!

Celebrating President Nikkole Valdez's acceptance to Medical School in the Philippines & new president elect Steven, everyone chowed down on BJ's famous deep dish pizzas & had dinner together one last time.
Nikkole plans to continue Rotaract at her new campus or join Manila Rotaract to carry on her undying Rotaract spirit! Thank you Nikkole for all that you have done for Rotaract! We already miss you! Congradulations Steven! We know UCLA Rotaract will continue to shine through your leadership!

Santa Monica Rotaract ~ Sat. 4/4/09
"HONK HONK TO END MALARIA!"
District Rotaract, as well as members of El Camino College Rotaract, lent a hand with Santa Monica College Rotaract, Santa Monica Rotary & Brentwood Interact car wash! They raised over $1,100 & was matched by Santa Monica Rotary to fundraise for Malaria nets badly needed in Papua New Guinea.

Korea Town Rotary ~ Thurs 3/26/09
The District Rotaract was invited to the notorious Korea Town Rotary in hopes of chartering the 11th Rotaract Club of Korea Town! A presentation by our Governor Kim, Finance Roderick, & Service Chair Jenn, was made to spread the word about "Future Rotarians in Action" & our international service project Heifer Ark to Tanzania, Africa.
Joining our team were Rotaract sponsors, Rotarian John Colville, Marie Fremd & Carmela Raack to support both the youth & other Rotary clubs in the district.
Fellowship & networking over dinner at the J.J. Grand Hotel in downtown LA, we also connected with Korea Town Interact.

El Camino College ~ Thurs 9/18/08


District Social Chair Claudia Guerrero & Service Chair Jenn Lee visited " The Spirit of Rotaract" award winner of 07-08, El Camino College Rotaract .


President Elect Alton Kim 08-09 carried out ice breakers to ease in new & prospective members, introduced club yahoo group (ECC_Rotaract), recapped on 13th Annual Manhattan Beach " Go Green" Art Fest, decorating commitee for ECC Luau Mixer & bulding a cardboard boards for the upcoming Rotary Family Picnic.
ECC Rotaract is very involved on the campus as well as community. Establishing networks with faculty & other clubs such as I.D.E.A.S Art Club, Honors Tranfser Program, Enviroment Club, Alpha Gamma Sigma, Science club & Inter Club Council, the year long project called "Project Possibilities" aka "The Mermaid Project," involves in collecting aluminum tabs from soda cans to melt into wheelchairs to send to Japan.
This project was origionally to help a comunity sculpter collect tabs to be scales of a mermaid. "If we all help donate [tabs], then we become something greater than ourselves together," says the sculptor Keiko. As her last art piece to her sick father in Japan, the
hospital where her parents are staying at were so impressed by thousands of tabs collected, they offered to melt them into wheelchairs at no cost. Help ECC Rotaract continues to collected 2,100 + tabs.

Marymount College ~ Tues. 9/16/08

Recieving their very own Presidential Award for collecting books to break Guiness Book of Records for " Most Collected Books at a Single Time,"at Rotary International Convention 2008 in LA, Marymount Rotaract continues to pioneer community & service projects. Their vision for "Service Above Self" makes them one of the most respected club/organization on campus & their community.
President elect Seyi Fabuluje 08-09 welcomes new Marymount students, past Interactors, as well as PV Sunset Rotarian/advisor's Mr. Don Reeves
( PV Sunset elect) & Jerry Ferrell.

President elect Seyi introduced Melanie Meneses, a wonderful Vista Outreach Specialist from Harbor Hills Public Housing Community~ Community Development Commission of the County of LA.
"If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem," Melanie expresses. She is looking for mentors to children at Harbor Hills on a weekly basis. Sports, tutors, arts & crafts, senior center, recreational gym, & family learning centers are just a few service opportunities at Harbor Hills.


Marymount Rotaract Club Advisor, Ms. Christina Wann further carries the
significance of being involved with the community/ campus with much energy
and excitement.
District Governess Kim Low & Service Chair Jenn Lee brought exciting Rotaract history and Rotaract today as "Future Rotarians in Action," and voiced the importance of district participation & support in all District events. Such upcoming events are: Presidential Dinner, Rotaract Conference, Toga, Rotaract Retreat, San Jose District Conference, etc.
Jenn publicized service opportunities/ projects such as The Christmas Train to Tecate, Mexico/ Toy Sorting Social, the 40 hour " Urban Experience," etc.
